012 Robin Gil From Employee to Entrepreneur
Robin Gil is the owner and creator of Ja’Mi Products.
Many of you will relate to her journey from employee to entrepreneur.
Fourteen years ago, Robin Gil, a true New Yorker from West Chester County. In NY Robin was a part time bookkeeper and a stay at home mom raising 2 young children when she and husband, Jesus, decided to move to Las Vegas for its affordable housing and the employment opportunities it provided.
Robin was working with an underground utility construction company, moving up from bookkeeper to purchasing / procurement manager when the recession hit and she was laid off. Fate, as they say, stepped in. She had been searching the Internet for a salt scrub that was comparable to the product she had been using, one free of dyes and perfume for sensitive skin but more affordable. That’s when she had an AHA moment and decided to create her own blend.
Beginning with two Essential Oils, Robin mixed her first batch of a Salt Scrub in the kitchen sink. After gifting the saleswoman at the shop where she bought the essential oils, the shop’s manager offered to place the Salt Scrub in her store on Consignment. Not long after Robin created 2 more Salt Scrubs, Creams and Lip Balms to have a complete line on the shelves.
Today Robin’s products can be found on Amazon and are carried by Whole Foods.
