048 Patti Pokorchak The Money Is in the Sale

http://traffic.libsyn.com/bolderbusinesswomen/048_Patti_Pokorchak_Podcast.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadOne of the biggest myths among solo entrepreneurs is that marketing is selling. This misconception keeps financial success out of reach.  It’s time to bust this myth wide open. Patti Pokorchak is an award winning marketing and sales executive, with 30+ years of experience at IBM, Siemens, and many startup companies. Self-employed since 1992, she helped start and run a multi-million dollar software company for 10 years, before opening a thriving garden centre and hobby farm. She says “If I can be a farmer, then you can be anything you want to be — with some basic sales and marketing skills that is!”. Patti was NOT a born salesperson – she was a trained programmer, after dropping her quest to be an accountant – all great geeky careers. While at IBM, even after she went on a grueling two week residential sales course, she was still a nervous shy introverted sales person. And then she discovered something. Today, Patti LOVES to sell and has deconstructed her million dollar sales secrets to help other entrepreneurs and small businesses sell more effectively, with more skill and confidence. Biz Tips The best sale is the one you walk away from. You want to like the people you deal with. The more comfortable you are with yourself, the easier it is to focus on the other person. Be confident in the value of what you offer. Quote Do or do not. There is no try. 047 Claim your Bold

http://traffic.libsyn.com/bolderbusinesswomen/047_Aprille_Janes_Podcast.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadI was the guest on a radio show recently and they questioned me about the use of the word “bolder”, especially for women. Many women have negative connotations to the word, equating it with ‘aggressive’ and all that THAT word brings up. The messaging many of received in our formative years was ‘Don’t be so bold. People will talk.” The inference (or directly spoken ) was the people won’t like you if you’re too bold. If you’re trying to get your message heard in this noisy, crowded market place, then you MUST challenge those messages. Why? Because quite frankly, you WANT people to talk about you, your business, your products and services. Don’t you? However, Let’s make them talk for the right reasons. Lets’ look at the positive side of “BOLD”. 3 TIPS The key is ‘confidence’. People are attracted to confidence. It starts by knowing your core values. When someone criticizes you for being confident that’s about them, not you. Don’t shrink back in order to make them feel better. Schedule time in your week to sit down and think about your business. Ask yourself “How can I bring more of ME to my business.” QUOTE “It doesn’t take much to be bold. Just a willingness to go to the edge of your comfort zone and take one step beyond those borders.“    Aprille Janes If you’d like more strategies to help you be bolder and more confident download my free Ebook — 11 BOLD Strategies to Swipe from the Corner Office.
